The Welsh Corgi breed always caught my eye - such cute dogs! After researching the breed, we got one - a red female that we named Shea. We found that Corgis are all that is advertised -intelligent, athletic, loyal and entertaining. Shea was such fun to have around, I decided we needed a tri-color one also. (Yes, they are addicting!)
This time I decided I wanted to get one with good conformation & bloodlines with the possibility of showing/breeding. After a summer of searching, I was able to find a breeder expecting a litter and willing to sell one to me. Thanks to Maria Petrak and Bluemoon Corgis in Sanger, Texas for giving me the opportunity to own Bluemoon Rhinestone Cowgirl, aka Darby. She has been such fun to own and my constant companion. Though life seemed to get in the way of the show circuit, it always pleased me to know that I had a nice Corgi that I could be proud of.
I am also a veterinary technician, and after having seen so many breeds decline in quality through nonselective breeding, my biggest priority in breeding Darby was to find a good quality male. If I was going to raise puppies, I wanted them to have good conformation close to breed standards, free of genetic defects, and with excellent temperaments. We are lucky to be in fairly close proximity to Cherry Mathiason of Morrill, Nebraska, who has great dogs. Thanks so much to Cherry for her help & advice and the stud service of her new champion male Ch BJ Satchma's Music Man, otherwise known as Rip.
